Thanks to Chris Paine, Don and Rob Patterson and Ally Cooper for all their hard work on the project. Check it out and let us know what you think. Here’s the link:
Boys & Girls Club Video
June 15th, 2011Dick Cooper (Who writes and directs in his “spare” time) and Chris Paine did this video for the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa. It tells the story of an amazing young man – Alex Masek. Check it out. The Cooper Brothers did the music. (You think this song should be on the next CD?)
New Single and Video – Hard Luck Girl
January 31st, 2011Hard Luck Girl is the new single off the IN FROM THE COLD cd. The song, produced by Colin Linden, features Jim Cuddy from Blue Rodeo on vocals, doing a great job trading verses with Brian. We shot the video down in Nashville this past December and wouldn’t you know it, there was a snowstorm as soon as we arrived. The good folks down there sure aren’t used to the white stuff – or the cold! They just about shut the place down. Anyway, John Fucile from SmackDab Media who produced the video is an old friend and fellow Canuck, so needless to say we pressed on and got it finished despite the weather. The video was directed by Peter Lippman who has directed videos for a virtual who’s who of musicians, from Springsteen to Charlie Daniels, Alan Jackson to Phil Collins. It was a pleasure working with a pro like him. Thanks to Colin as always, thanks to Jim Cuddy, and special thanks to everyone down in Nashville – especially John and Lisa, Liz and Alex.

That’s What Makes Us Great! – Video Shoot
January 13th, 2010December 20th we took over the Elmdale tavern in Ottawa to shoot our first video for the new album. Produced by Blomeley Communications and directed by our old friend Chris Paine, it was a long day but it certainly had its share of laughs. Natalie and Bruce, the owners of the Elmdale were the perfect hosts and we want to thank them for their hospitality. If you haven’t checked out this funky little bar, please do. It’s a great venue to hear music. www.elmdaletavern.com.
We spent the morning doing the individual band shots then we let the “invited” audience in around noon. Luckily the beer taps were open by then so everyone could get in the mood. In spite of the fact we had to do the song a number of times, the audience never lost their enthusiasm. They were terrific. Michel Poirier, the first AD was quite instrumental in keeping everyone’s spirits up and generally directing traffic. Andy Tait and Uncle Bob from FabGear made sure we didn’t look like bums and Jessica Pettigrew did the make-up. Graham Dunnell brought his big jib arm and I’m not sure exactly how we got it into the building, but we did, and we sure got some nice shots with it. Thanks Graham! My old friend from CJOH days, Frank Harris did the lighting and pitching in to help were the usual suspects, Don and Robert Patterson, Billy Gallinger, Allison Cooper and Steve St. Jean!
